Stage 1 - Beginners

The Stage 1 bonsai course consists of 6 x 3hr weekly lessons with one tutor per four students. Each lesson comprises:

  • 60 minutes Theory

  • 2 hrs Workshop / Practical Lesson

Comprehensive notes cover the following topics.

Introduction
Tree Selection
Wiring

Basic Horticulture
Bonsai Pots
Tree Design and Styling

Repotting and Root Pruning
Watering and Fertilising
Branch Leaf and Pruning

The course provides instruction on principles, practices & processes used in bonsai and is intended for people who are:

  1. Either in the early stages of their bonsai journey, or;

  2. Have been practising bonsai for several years without formal training.

The bulk of the course is “hands on” and participants should bring a plant to work on each week to maximise benefit.

Cost for 6wk course: Fees: Members $150, non members $200. (Non-Members can join for $40 and pay $150 for the course, saving $10).  To join the club, click here before purchasing course tickets. This will allow you to purchase course tickets at a discounted rate.
